2014 Sunburst Finish Line FAQs

Are the 2014 Sunburst Races finishing in Notre Dame Stadium?
On Saturday, April 12, the University of Notre Dame announced an exciting project regarding FieldTurf for the iconic football stadium. After speaking with University officials, we regret to inform our participants that the timeline associated with the project and the approaching start to the football season prevents us from finishing this year’s Sunburst Races in the stadium.

Where is the new finish line located?
The finish line this year will be located on the Notre Dame campus on Moose Krause Circle, just outside of the tunnel entrance to the Notre Dame Stadium. The finish line location provides ideal views of the iconic "Word of Life" mural (also known as Touchdown Jesus) to the left on the Hesburgh Library, with the stadium located to the right. See map below.

Where will the start line be?
The start line will remain at the same location, near the former College Football Hall of Fame in Downtown South Bend.

How will this affect the routes?
Preliminary course maps will be posted within the next week or so. Certified maps will be available in May.

Will the Sunburst Marathon still be a Boston Qualifier?
Absolutely!

Will there be a stadium finish next year?
We cannot guarantee that Sunburst will have a Notre Dame Stadium finish in 2015, due to the Campus Crossroads Project at Notre Dame Stadium.

Can I request a refund?
While we do not usually offer refunds for any reason, we recognize that this is an extraordinary situation. Therefore, we will offer race registration refunds upon request. If you wish to request a refund, please email your request to sunburst@beaconhealthsystem.org. Include "REFUND" in the subject line, and your name, event, and registration confirmation number in the body of the email. Once you request a refund, you will be removed from the 2014 Sunburst event. You will not be issued a bib number nor will you receive a 2014 T-shirt.

Are there any other changes to the race?
Other than the finish line area, everything else for the race will continue as planned. The Expo and packet pickup are on Friday night, with late packet pickup available early Saturday morning. Post-race transportation shuttles back to the start line will still be available as well.
