Every Mile Counts at The Memorial Children’s Hospital
As a runner, you know that every mile counts. The same is true in the ambulance that transports children from distances near and far to Memorial Children’s Hospital. Every mile, every minute, and every second make a difference in the life of a child when he or she needs us.
Your donation will go towards the Child Life Specialist Program at Memorial Children's Hospital. Child Life Specialists are trained to help children and their families manage and understand challenging life events and highly stressful medical experiences. Currently, Memorial Children's Hospital has two full-time and one part-time Child Life Specialist who help care for the thousands of children who are treated at Memorial Children's Hospital each year. Your generous donation will help assist Memorial in expanding the Child life Program into the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Program and the Emergency Department.
Memorial Children’s Hospital, the region’s only designated children’s hospital, welcomes and treats children with a wide variety of medical and surgical diagnoses from more than 22 referring hospitals throughout Southwestern Michigan and Northern Indiana. Memorial Children’s Hospital is a 65-bed facility that includes 36 beds in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), 20 inpatient beds, and nine Pediatric Intensive Care Unit beds (PICU). Last year alone, Memorial Children’s Hospital treated over 3,500 children, NICU treated over 400 babies, and the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Program treated over 300 patients.
